Thinking it's about time 'we' had another gabbly meet.....
although now, instead of a pub meet, how about a sunday ride out somewhere?
Spoke to some of you already about it and some options thrown in to the mixer so far are.... Run out to Skeggy; Run out to Ponderosa Cafe; Meet at Matlock Bath; Meet at Oulton Park BSB round on 15th July (Although may possibly make this a meet up anyway); however, the current favourite option so far, with a 100% backing (2 out of 2 people voted this as best choice!)
So, old skool gabbly peeps and folks who fancy a rideout / meet up, get ya name down below....
"ACCORDING TO LOCAL FOLKLORE THE BRIDGE
IS SAID TO HAVE BEEN BUILT BY THE DEVIL HIMSELF.
AS LEGENDS GO IT SAYS THAT AN ELDERLY
LADY HAD A COW WHICH ACCIDENTALLY STRAYED ACROSS TO THE OTHER SIDE OF
THE BANK OF THE RIVER LUNE.
THE DEVIL APPEARED AND WAS SAID TO HAVE
MADE A DEAL WITH HER TO BUILD A BRIDGE SO SHE COULD CROSS THE RIVER TO
REGAIN HER COW, THE DEAL ALSO INCLUDED THAT THE FIRST LIVING THING THAT
CROSSED THE BRIDGE THE DEVIL WOULD TAKE THEIR SOUL.
THE OLD LADY RETURNED THE NEXT MORNING
TO SEE IF THE BRIDGE HAD BEEN BUILT AND AS IT HAD SHE THREW A LITTLE BIT
OF FOOD ACROSS TO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE BRIDGE, THEN SHE PUT HER DOG
DOWN WHICH WENT FOR THE FOOD, THE DEVIL THEN LET OUT A HOWL OF RAGE AND
IT IS SAID TO THIS DAY THAT THE MARKS OF
HIS FINGERS ARE STILL TO BE SEEN ON ONE OF THE COPING STONES ON THE
