A mate of mine works for the RBS/NAT WEST Group. He will shortly be getting abonus of around 5k. I have not got a problem with this, as he is just a good employee, who has done his job, and earned his commission. Its further up the tree, that caused the problem. However, I have been told that I am not getting a cost of living rise or any bonus, in spite of me turning over £9m with a profit of around £600,000,(Truck Industry) mainly due to the £-euro exchange, even though I have worked to the budgetted exchange rate. I know people are losing there jobs, and I should be thankful... it just pisses me off. (and I have got to do it all over again this year, NO CHANCE!)

I'm thinking Buddhism, and the refusal of all material possessions. It seems to be the only way out.
Just what you mean used2bfast, I have just taken a 24% pay cut for 3 months. despite bringing projects in on budget. How do you get a good bank job........
Gets everyones goat up
Lets not forget that the money these bankers are using to pay themselves these big bonuses has come from the tax payer for the purposes stopping the credit rot.
I was of the opinion that the banks had just sustained very high financial losses so how can any of them advocate paying out bonuses. In every sector of society you get bonuses if the company makes a profit and not if it doesn't. Why is banking any different?
Just a thought though. The UK tax payer is now bailing out the banks and by the same token as the banks we can call the loan in early. If the banks were to think that paying out excessive and totally undeserved bonuses would result in tax payer loans being called in then their would be restraint against this idiotic and short sighted bonus culture for the banks.
Barclays didnt they turn down the government pay out? And they made a profit in 2008. And their directors have declined to take the bonus. But they are paying a bonus to their normal staff.
So they arent at fault in that respect
Some of the other banks however . . . .
Talking of ridiculous paypackets.
Philip Schofield will get a reported £45,000 per show for a new version of Mr & Mrs.
That £45k would pay off my credit card, replace my very dodgy car, pay for a service on the bike and give me the confidence to go solo in the 1st Aid world.
Slightly uneven playingfield I reckon.
are you suggesting
Royal bank of Scotland/Nat West, and we own 70% of it now! Are intending to pay out bonuses (and big ones)
Barclays is good news, as it might get the stock market to move up. Although, whilst there is money to be made from it going down, I doubt it. I think they call this a "self fullfilling prophecy"
parapan.seems that in the world of banking you can gamble multi-millions that you don't actually have, and then collect the winnings if it goes your way.try that in Las vegas and the C.S.I. team would be picking over your remains in the desert." />.perhaps Gordon and 'Darling' should have just opened a brand new Credit Union and put all our tax money in it, and made us all members.
Kindle not a fire that you cannot extinguish.
For bankers read wankers
they put us in the shit we bail em out & THEY get bonuses ? Even if the top knobbers didn't get bonuses they aren't going to feel the pinch in their ivory towers, their salaries are as obscene as the fact that they're even thinking about awarding themselves bonuses. They don't have to worry about becoming redundant because even if they were they'd get a bigger pay off than any of us mere mortals could imagine.
what is going to happen to all those investment bankers and hedge fund managers now? I mean, you think YOU have debts? These guys and girls have racked up way more than their bonuses will cover, even in the good years. And now that the whole sector has collapsed - and it really, really has - what are they going to do? There's a whole raft of useless people whose skills are taking risks with other people's money.
And before you start bleating on about how much the deserve to die, these are the people who made money for your pensions, savings, investments and helped get cheap mortgages when the days were good. We all got used to cheap credit, high income on investments and nobody complained while the money was coming in did they?
I don't like them. But then I think anyone who works in marketing has no soul either and nobody seems to be following Bill Hicks' advice and helping ad execs kill themselves.
But seriously, what use are bankers now? What can you do with a jobless banker, what can you do with a jobless banker, what can you do with a jobless banker, early in the morning!
Send 'em off to sea with a hedge fund manager,
Send 'em off to sea with a hedge fund manager,
Send 'em off to sea with the hedge fund managers,
Ear-lie in the mor'nen!
Hey ho, and up she rises....
It's not just the bankers
Brown in his former post as chancellor took a few risky decisions I reckon, Blair knew when to bail out didn't he ! all yours Gordon & off on his travels as a 'special envoy' & when that well runs dry he'll do the lecture trail/gravy train THEN the EU gravy train. One of the reasons I've resigned from the civil service is to be sure I get my pension (to which I've paid into over the past 17 yrs) AND tax free lump sum while it's still there, the question is begging, has Brown done a Maxwell with pension funds ? public money to bail out the banks ? WHERE did it come from ? I will add that my main reason for leaving the employ of the MoD is for my health & well being as I'm beggining to suffer from working shifts & the twats won't let me work on as a part timer.
Nat West Tower Banker JUmps!
i was walking past the Nat West Tower the other day when i saw a Banker on a ledge on the 20th floor.
A Crowd was gathering and one voice shouted up.
" Jump you Banker jump" Jump into this blanket we are holding and you will be saved---!
So he Jumped hit the deck ! broke his fu##ing neck!
coz ther'ye was no Blanket !
Derek & clive !
fucking brilliant !
So the 'big four' apologised today
does anyone believe they were sincere ? does anyone think they'll be worried for their job prospects ? or if they can make their next mortgage payment ? or if they can feed their families ? I don't believe one insincere bit of their cynical apologies. They were paid salaries in the sums of £MILLIONS pe annum so do you think they'll be short of a bob or two ? Not on you nellie ! they'll have salted away enough to remain comfortable while in the region of 2,300 lose their jobs in banking.
