for Prime Minister!, what an amazing, stirring speech and such dogged determination to see the right thing done, well done to all involved in the Gurkha campaign and all those who signed up to the petition. Makes you proud to be British, we still have a sense of fair play and Justice.

DONT MESS WITH PATSY
Can you tell me why she is so into the Ghurka campaign anyway? Dont get me wrong, I think its great she's helping as they deserve to live here more than any of the damn illegal immigrants (who get to stay anyway!)
Is there perhaps a wee patsy-ghurka cross lovechild wandering the streets somewhere?
i think her dad fought along side them in Burma, and he always said how amazingly brave they were!
**She'd get my vote! **
Ghurkas are Great !
ANDY YOU TALK SHIT.
Having served with the Gurkha's quite few times, i know they are are fantastic, perfect little gentlemen till you f**** with them. They DESERVE to live here, just as much as you and I. They have served in every major campaign, when was the last time you did something for the betterment of society? If you go to Tesco's in Camberley all of the security staff are ex Ghurka, would'nt want to try shoplifting there, might find a Kukri stuck in yer heed.
with the result, though the cynical side of me wonders if the government caved in with elections due next month and general election next year.
**about time **
this happened.. least the gurkhas have fought and many have died for this nation....
wtf have our sleazebag mp's done apart from line thier own pockets with taxpayers money!!!
Andy are you really saying that people who have fought and died for this country don't deserve to live here, where as the lazy work dodging chav's can sit on there back sides and claim the doll ?
Not being funny but Half the people who say they don't want outsiders in this country would never dream of actually fighting for their country. It is just assumed that it is your right to live here but bloody Hitler would be in charge if it wasn't for the peolpe that fought in WW2.
Joanna Lumly is so for the Gurkhas by the way because one saved her Dad's life during WW2.
I am sure they saved many more also meaning half of us probably wouldn't even be here if it wasn't for them.
I thank God and all the Soldiers that fight and have fought so we can sleep safe at night.
I know Britain has its faults but beleive me there are a lot worse places to live.
Sorry for the rant
bloody time they were allowed to stay in the country they so faithfully help protect! It sickens me that these lazy sh1ts who claim doll get a free ride and people who have shed blood are pushed aside and forgotten about!!
Oh and even though she is a little old it would be rude not to!
First of all
I agree they should be allowed to live here. But what about all the other nationalities that fought in all the wars for this country?
Makes you think
Ho ho, Andy1472!
You are soooo full of sh*t!!
Besides the fact that these brave men fought for this country, the truth is that maybe if you weren't so totally suckered by all the Daily Mail "imigrant" propaganda you read and really found out the facts about the amount of people going in and out of this country, then maybe your blood pressure would be brought down to a healthy level " />
Well done Ms. Lumley. And well done to all that supported the Gurkah's in the fight for what is their's by right!
Andy, go boil ya head!!! TW@T
But i can hold my head high and say i did my bit for this country. CAN YOU???
Its hard to disagree with most of the comments on here.
But what worries me is how cynical the this bloody labour lot are.
First they say that these blokes were nothing more than mercinaries who were offered money to fight for us and nothing more. They fought, they got paid, end of story.....fair enough. Nothing about living here implied at all.
After all we paid them what was a fortune in comparison to what they could earn in their own country. There was nothing to stop other countries offering them the same deal! They would have fought for them too presumably considering there are only so many places available in the British army.
Now we have a situation where the government does a complete u turn and lets them in after earlier saying that we are under no obligation to do so. Its all about buying votes and being popular. When it suits them the immigration rules can be swept aside.
All that said, Joanna Lumley did a great job in showing the politicians up for what they are. Twats.
I totally agree with those who say that the Ghurkas have more right to be here than,......certain other ethnic types. Who contribute nothing and who want to destroy us. I`ll leave out the name we know who they are!
Good luck to the Ghurkas for achieving this. Well done Joanna.
**The Gurkhas have been asked to **
fight for may countries but they have declined all offers apart from Nepal, Britain and India.
If I'm right I think they fight for us as a mark of respect for toughness we demostrated fighting against them in a short dispute in the 19th century
So I don't belive they will actually fight for the highest bidder (I think the Americans have asked them and again they turned them down)
lets not go down the BNP road again. we have done that one to death
I stand corrected.
Well done Joanna Lumley
her dogged determinatoin to see the right thing done by the gurkhas in a gentile dignified manner speaks volumes for her, Her link to the regiment is her dad who was a gurkha officer, she's a daughter of the regiment as she puts it. My own dad fought alongside the gurkhas in Burma during WW2 & had nothing but praise for them, my own contact with them during my military service was a pleasureable experience, very polite & always travelled in a regimental blazer & collar & tie, unlike some of our comrades who behaved appallingly on the cross channel ferries !
I do agree with Andy ref Britain becoming a haven for undesireable elements of the EU but not the BNP bit, my dad fought in a war to rid the world of nazism & to give you Andy the freedom of speech you enjoy to denigrate members of OUR forum, it's ours Andy mine, yours, & everyone one else who wants to be on here, --- & by the way gurkha soldiers also fought to give you this freedom of speech so they have more right to settle here than the previously mentioned EU criminal element that continues to enter our country.
**I heard Gordon **
on the radio two days ago. Basically saying he didn't wanna let him in 'cos he was thinking of the public finances. How he kept a straight face I'll never know.
I'm betting that the first thing that comes to mind for most people on this site is, 'how can you not let those loyal men in, when you'll happily let low life from all over in for a free ride?' (Hint most freeloaders don't vote Tory).
What grinds my gears though, is not one MP pointed out there are thousands of toss pots we could send packing to make way for the Gurkhas.
Joanna Lumley - worth one, but not for prime minister.
Better to have Jeremy 'what we've got is a one eyed Scottish idiot who lies' 'you can't say that Jeremy' 'OK say I said I regret the one eyed bit' Clarkson for PM
No there's nothing wrong with being Scottish either.
UKIP - Not the same as BNP, they have coloured members for a start.
Well Done Jo
Andy is entitled to his point of view. I agree to some extent. If you choose to live in a country different to your birth country, then you should contribute toward it, not detract from it. This, the Gurkha's have done.
Well done Jo for her determination. Now we just need to make sure everyone votes on past performance, not recent politics!
If it ain't fun, don't do it
