I own a Honda Pan European ST1100 (import), 2000 model with only about 23,000km on it. Until about 6 months ago it was fine. Now I have an engine cutout problem.
Usually at just the wrong moment, during a high(er) speed overtake, the engine dies. Not an immediate cut out, but a slow dying away, preceded by a noticable jerkiness in the ride. Turning the throttle has no effect. Ignition lights illuminate. I suspect a fuel flow problem of some sort, but the bike has been in to a local dealer once and had a total clean out of the fuel system. The problem still occurrs. Five times on the way to and from Knockhill on Saturday last. A bit worrying for me and the drivers of the vehicles I was overtaking.
If I sit for five minutes and apply full choke, the bike fires but runs like a bag of spanners for a minute or two until all cylinders come to life. It won't start without allowing that few minutes. I've checked breather pipes which are free and clear.
Any ideas will be gratefully accepted and looked in to.
