I have an 2009 Dorsoduro which gets very nervous and skippy at the back at decent but not excessive lean angles. I also notice it has no chicken strips - yet the lean angles do not feel that excessive, certainly less than a previous bike on which I had the same tyre and had kept chicken strips. I have been told that this is because the Dorsoduro uses a 180 section Qualifier with a 6" rim and normally 180's go on a 5.5" rim and that moving to a 190/50 would cure it.
However I would prefer to keep a 180 as I don't want to lose the agility of the DD as that's the whole point of it. It's not like it has a lot of power to need a 190.
My question is, are there 180 section tyres that have an eggier profile on which I wont run out of tyre. Ideally something that works well in the wet too as it's unlikely I'll run out of grip in the dry if they tyre is actually on the road?
I was hoping to use something like RoadSmarts next but am now worried they'll have a similar profile to the Qualifiers.
