Just thought i would bring this subject back up as the justice system is becoming a total joke. As i was returning home from work the other day (in the car) when a news item came up. A bloke who had tried to commit suicide by driving the wrong way along the very busy M60 ring road, deliberately doing u-turns and crashing into other vehicles as well as speeding, had been sentenced, now don't forget that some bikers have been jailed for 12 months just for simple speeding on a virtually empty motorway, can you guess what sentence this guy got...... yep a nine month suspended for two years and banned for 12 months ..... now if that is not a case for dicrimination against us bikers then i don't know what is.. Can anyone beat that for a joke. This Government needs to get its head out of its own backside and get real with what is going on in its own country because personally i do not think they have a clue and if they do they don't really care
Jailed bikers - is this fair?

the reason why cars get away with murder is that politicians can hide in cars but on a motorbike there is no where to hide. No protection from their real or imaginary assassins.
To everyone else
We are rebellious, non-conforming outlaws.
Society hates anything different and the media hype any bad press and play down the good stuff we do. So we will always pay the price for not being sheep.
A clip of a car driving at 109mph.
The driver got banned and 2 months community order or some shite.
Last bike I heard about going at similar speeds got jail time, despite the substantially lower risk to anyone else.
not fair but
do over a ton on a bike and your going down simples!!! it aint fair but you will never change it!! this country has always hated bikes and the people who ride them
i find annoying is that if you do over a 100 in a car you can keep your licence(depends on the road). grrrrr
Given that the guy was trying to commit suicide, his state of mind was taken into account and he was treated leniently because of some sense of 'diminished responsibility.'
i think the reason bikers get such a raw deal, is that the cops know bikes are constantly speeding and are harder to catch than cars. so when they do get one. they want to make a proper example of them. like i say it aint fair but what is in this wonderful country of ours?
Kingdoms are run by kings.
Dictatorships are run by dictators.
Empires are run by Emperors.
This is a country
i'll try that one next time i get pulled
some macho 'copter pilot acts like a complete tosser and kills himself and 2 others and injurs 9 others.Coroners summing up includes the immortal line 'He was behaving recklessly, like a motorcyclist doing wheelies'.......
Kindle not a fire that you cannot extinguish.
WOW ! I was able to sign it at last !
back on thread now, on the BBC westcountry news 2 nights ago they featured the Paingnton bike nights & interviewed a D&C police inspector who said"we organise events like this" blah blah blah. THEY DO NOT ORGANISE THE PAINGTON BIKE NIGHTS !!! BMAD organise it (bikers make a difference) the tosser didn't once mention what BMAD do ref charities & went on about the negative aspects of bikers & motorcycling. He wobbled on about their Harley Davidson & how bikers like to see it ---------- it's hardly on the road as it's constantly tits up ! The bias against motorcycles/bikers shows no sign of going away, the USA is so different in its attitudes to bikers/motorcycling so why the fook is it so different in the UK ? totally baffles me at times.
It's not that different
In the USA, there are good and bad states - in the latest issue of Road (Motorcycle Action Group magazine) they reported that the NY police have a policy of road blocking & stopping EVERY bike going to the various bike events ( sounds like North Wales) & it is being challenged in the courts - others are more enlightened and have recently repealled their helmet laws.
Overall they maybe going a bit easier on bikes than the UK at the moment but the trend is the same IMHO.
"do over a ton on a bike and your going down simples!!! "
So my recent excursion to a speed 33mph over that figure could have seen me in jail then?
Cool! Wouldn't have to worry about rent, and some do-gooder would've even helped me to find a job when I came out.
Where's my keys .......
Me too !
on the local news today it's reported that D&C police will be asking prisoners held in their cells to complete a questionaire re the following : how was the food ? was your cell clean ? how were you treated ? ----- I kid you not ! we must be a real bad lot we 'bikers' the police actually have come out & said they want to STOP the bulldog bash event next year, so will any of the media ever report on biker events that raise money for charities ? we attend a minimum of 4 each year & I'm yet to see any good coverage but if one biker fooks up it's all over the news.
we've only ridden in California in the USA & the reception everywhere was good, the difference between the UK & the USA is that the US motorcycle action groups have some clout so when they mount a legal challenge they may well be listened to AND be taken seriously.
I wonder if
its that 'British thing?' dare I say of;
As I aint got it, and I cant do it, then no one else should...!
You know, like the key fob that scratches the lovely car, or the the git that spills accidently on purpose that drink at the bar over nice clothes.
As we all experienced, those that don't understand Motorbikes, then 'get them of the streets !!'
Fact, was touring around France couple of years ago, and was pissing down, freezing cold, nearly night fall, so stopped at the next village for a pit stop and to find a place to kip.
Stood a bit bewildered and lost, this old guy, grabbed my arm, pulled me into a bar/bistro (What-ever), burbled on in French, then some chap came and took my gloves, jacket, helmet etc. Put them near a fire place, and while I sat warming up, thud... soup of the day... thud half a pint of beer... and they all sat smiling at me. (Now now... I know what you lot are thinking).
The next day got chatting to some other bikers fueling up, and told them, and they said. Yes, its quite normal as France and in general Europe is so biker friendly and were not surprised, especially if they see a foriegn number plate.
How sad our nation has become folks.
Ditto that in Spain
I looked in my mirrors to see 3 spanish cops on BMW's having a play, they were having a hoot & really shifting, gave us a wave as they passed, this sad little excuse for what was a great country has truly lost its spirit.
To Old To Get Out
I just dont understand why we are spending billions on new aircraft carrier, and billions on our forces, who the hell would want to invade this country, anyone stupid enough to want to, should be given the key of the door, we would be no worse off.
