To check the battery recharge system, am i right to think that the volt metre needs to be connected to the negative wire which attach's to the battery? after disconnection from battery? This is a 82 xl250r single that has 3 lives comming out of the stator, 1= headlight. 1= spark, 1= recharge of battery then battery works only other electrics, horn/indicators ect.
New battery on 50 miles ago, now flat!
