Hi, so far I have been riding only bikes with ABS breaks (Hornet 600, CBF 1000, Pan European 1300). Just now due to very difficult financial situation I could no longer keep my Pan European and had to 'down-grade' to something more economical to run , never mind.....anyway I now have one of those new CBR250R and they don't come with ABS (yet, they may do later but the one I have does not have ABS).
I have been riding for 4 years now, I would consider myself a 'good rider', I have done the Rospa training for example and 'touch wood' have not been involved in any accidents (I know I am not 'immune' to them but I do my best in 'prevention' anyway). I am just trying to saying that I think 'skill wise' I am 'ok' in riding my bikes, I am not a 'jerky' person and I don't take risks if you get the picture.
So my question is: will I necessarily feel any differences with non ABS breaks? or will I only know the day I have a 'near miss' on the road? (by which time it's too late?
any tips folks?
I have only done a test ride on the bike and am due to collect it in 2 weeks time, and no, I have not tried to do an emergency stop on it (forgot! duh!)
thank you so much for your wise answers and sharing your experiences
ps I know that 'generally speaking' ABS are not supposed to lock and non ABS could lock, just wondered will I feel a difference in my general riding and should I do anything different?
