At last a response from the beeb regarding the dodgy footage and mis use of stastics in the programme. What do you think?
'Thanks for contacting us regarding BBC Two's How Safe Are Britain's
Thanks too for your further correspondence and please accept our apologies
for the delay in replying. We know our correspondents appreciate a quick
response and are sorry you've had to wait on this occasion.
We note you were concerned by the statistics on the programme and the use of
stunt footage. Your complaint was passed to the programme producers; they accept
there was an error in the interpretation of the statistics in this section of
the programme and their language could have been more precise. However, the
issue they were seeking to raise remains; more motorcycle deaths happen on rural
roads and accidents on bends are among the most common causes.
We'd also like to assure you that we've registered your comments on our
audience log. The audience logs are important documents that can help shape
future decisions and they ensure that your points, and all other comments we
receive, are made available to BBC staff across the Corporation.
Thanks again for contacting us.'
Basically they used a clip of a stunt rider but did not mention that it was a clip from the internet and twisted the stats to suit the producers point without qualifiying either. It really wound me up we already get slagged off enough without the Beeb joining in.
