Took my bike out for the first time since it was taken off the road but was struggling at 6000rpm got told the carbs might need balanced ? any ideas and is it hard to balance them yourself?

what bike is it?
how long has it been standing?
have you got carb balancing gauges?
have you tried fresh fuel?
is it running on all cylinders?
More likely to be crud in the carbs, if it's been stood for a while...
VOLVO, built by Swedes, usually driven by other vegetables.....
carbs don`t need balancing at 6000 rpm,sounds like a carb strip/clean.
The carbs have been stripped and cleaned when I took it off the road and I ran it almost ever day whilst it was sitting. It sometimes gives me full power when at high revs but most of the time it's like it's choking and doesn't want to go faster :/ its a Honda cbr fn was only sitting for a year tank was emptied nd painted so clean fuel don't have carb gauges.

Now you have said you have had the carbs off(should have said that in the beginning)i would say at a guess you have a air leak at the rubber inlet manifolds or air box,or as the bike is now 20 years old it could well have rot holes in the carb slide diaphragms?(or been refitted wrongly?)or the fuel tap diaphragm?all these things with a bike of this age should be checked out.Good Luck.
I have just looked at the manual and have found out that the person who had the bike before me had taken the air control sensor off would this affect it ?

If the bike had the air suction system removed when you bought it and it run OK then,then it should run OK now?Air suction system was only fitted to Californian bikes of that year,so is your bike an American import to your country?hasn't got a sensor.
