Happy St George's Day

Enjoy your day and if you're doing anything special/unusual tell us about it
Vulcan, the beer in Spain is about 1 Euro a litre and you get to ride your bike all day in the warm sunshine - stop moaning!
Happy St Georges day.
what yea all doin with your day off ? or is that just the Queens birthday like us poor convicts over here " />
It's not a bank holiday. In fact I wouldn't have known it was St George's Day other than seeing the post on here. I'm not English anyway, but I do live here.
English = Aengle-Cyn = the relatives of those who
can speak the language of the Aengles; which ought to make immigration policy
BTW, Saint George was a Greek soldier in the Roman army
who never even visited Britain; he was executed by the Romans for heresy. The
story of the dragon didn't appear until the Church sought to amalgemate
indiginous myth into its history so wrote George as a Dragons slayer to re-write
Thor vs Jormungandr in Saxon lands or to re-write Apollo and Pytho the Drakon in
mediteranian lands; both of which draw upon Belerathon and Chimera.

Wasn't st George Turkish
As well as being the patron St for 17 diferent country's , wasn't ST George Turkish?......and a Turkish Muslim at that and not a Christian?
Besides, Greek or Turkish he never steep foot anywhere near England this green and pleasant land
Can't we have some one who is actually uniquely English like say, Robin Hood. That's if he actually ever existed at all,but at least he's nearer to being an actual Englishman.
What a confused lot we are
died on his birthday.
St George supposedly was beheaded for refusing to sacrifice to the Roman Gods declaring his Christianity to be the reason for his defiance.
That might've all been made up by the church for their adoption of a muslim as opposed to their adoption of a likely Olympian-pagan.
As for Robin Hood....well King John really existed. Not sure we want him as a Saint though
Yep, not taxed at source (because it is below the threshold) but counts towards total income when assessing your tax liability. That isn't anything new though - it's always been that way. Pensions are still the best way of saving to provide for retirement though.
.....St George's Day
...does this mean I am allowed to slay my m-in-law today?....
I bet you don't mean that
Knowledge is knowing a tomato is a fruit
