Just the Saturday Passed I took my bike in for a service to my local triumph dealer, i also had a puncture, i asked the question if they plugged them they said No its there policy not to plug but to change the tyre, so i am now wondering is plugging a good thing or does it weaken the tyre when they put the plug in, advise for next time please, oh and why is it always the bloody rear

Depending on the puncture, there is no problem with plugging a tyre. The main problem is that most tyres are "Z" rated, and as such, are not supposed to be repaired. I've had them plugged before with no problems at all, including using the tyre in the Isle Of Man and also for drag racing.
It's usually the rear tyre because the front tyre will flick up the debris, then the rear tyre hits it, driving it into the tyre.
