I am new to this forum so to begin with, hello!
Also I am a third year Motorcycle Design student about to embark on my final year and therefore my final year project.
What I wish to know from those with far more experience and knowledge in these things than me is, why are girder forks now only exclusively found on classic machines and those high end unaffordable motorcycles?
Is this down to the technology being outdated?
The performance being far better on telescopics?
Or there is no high volume manufacturer brave enough to re use and redevelop this 'old' technology?
Now I have researched this and have yet to find a definite reason for the redundancy of the girder fork, I can understand how they would be out performed by a telescopic fork but only really at the serious racing scene?
There must be a reason and I imagine one of you knowledgable sort have an answer or at least an opinion to help guide my research.
Regardless any help would be much obliged.
