Yes it would be spectacular and been in the planning stage for some time. At one point they had two smaller versions at the Falkirk Wheel back in 2007. They are pretty good, being welded together with small sections of steel and obviously taken sometime to create.
There are quite a few other sculptures made in this way in Scotland too.
I have to admit it does seem daft throwing money at sculptures.... but if it's private funding it doesn't particularly both me much. And if it is creating some form of employment then that can only be good thing.

The Clydesdale Horse we pass as it's beside the M8 motorway, one of his other sculptures is near where we live called 'Rise'. But as you can see from his web page there are many more dotted around the UK and other countries.
Ps unsurprisingly I prefer the horse sculptures
