I had a problem recently where my fuel
cap got siezed shut. No amount of pulling, twisting and wiggling with
oil and release fluid could help and eventually I had to resort to
drilling out the key barrel and forcing it open. Luckily nothing dropped
into the tank and it all came off in one piece, phew!
ordered up a new cap from M&P and it came delivered on time and
looked great but the rubber seal that came with itwas slightly too thin
to make the requisit seal around the neck of the tank.
As I was
up in stoke anyway and close to "the largest motorcycle breaker in
Europe" - DK motorcycles, I thought they might be able to help me find a
suitable used part to fix this problem.
This is where the trouble started...
went up to spares desk and asked a chap if he could help me, explaining
that all it really needs is a suitable seal from any other bike. I
thought it would be a simple task of going to look at the used gas caps
and parts they kept and picking off something similar to the thin one I
had brought with me.
