" />Greetings to all!
I have a unique twist on the usual "what would be the best choice for a first big bike"
I will try to keep it short.
I am working in the UAE, where biking is not as popular or supported as back home in the UK. Models and support are very limited.
I passed my DAS back in 2004. But haven't really ridden since. I was very comfortable on my course, on a CB500, and passed easily.
However, even after two days on the CB500, I was bored. Wanted more power. And I felt it was physically too small.
I am 6'2", broad build and 95kgs. Sitting on bikes at exhibitions and showrooms, I feel most comfortable on bikes like the VFR1200F, the Ducati MTS1200, Suzuki DL1000, BMW K1300S, etc. The roomy and comfy ones.
I am a firm believer in the idea that maturity, self-control, having accute awareness, being sensible, cautious, etc can keep you safe on a powerful machine, within reason. Hence, even though I think they're beautiful, desirable, etc, I wouldnt even waste my time sitting on or testing the likes of a GSXR1000 or R1 or S1000RR...
But I do want reserves of power, and I want a bike that will fit my frame. Ive used http://cycle-ergo.com to help, and my size and weight seems to be at odds with the likes of the 650 Ninja, CBR650F, etc.
So, I'm looking for advice from the experienced and knowledgeable please! Really appreciate it!!!
