Is it possible to get a less effective baffle for exhausts? What I'm wondering is if it's possible to make an exhaust a little louder but without going the whole hog and pissing off the neighbours...

Of course it is Phil
if you're talkin aftermarket can or cans, what bike are you talkin about?
considering it for either my bike (g650x country) or for a future one so frankly I'm not sure. I'm tempted to Do you have to chop out some of the baffle material yourself?
Do they dB check on an MOT? Are there any other potential repercussions?
I have in the past just drilled slightly larger holes in the baffle, its cheaper and you can then just slip in the standard one for the mot.The disadvantage is, if you take it too far you will screw up the back pressure screwing up the cat, fueling etc a modest bit of tinkering works wonders. Also have a look at the air filter plenty of scope of tweaking.
