I was on my way into work, coming around the island of a junction on the M6 I spotted an articulated lorry about to go up the slip road, looking at it I knew I easily had enough room to get past the truck once I was on the slip road. As I came off the roundabout and onto the slip road proper the truck had started to swing onto the right hand lane, but instead of taking up a fair amount of the road, as I knew he'd have to do as it was an artic__ going around a corner, he took up the entirety of the right hand lane forcing me onto the kerb.
I was travelling at around 30 - 40 mph when I came off but I was lucky as I ended up on the embankment, I've come out of it with a sprained thumb and stiffness and pain in my neck and back, the doctors given me a week off work to recuperate. My helmet needs replacing and the bikes most probably a right off in insurance terms but it's repairable as far as I can tell. Unfortunately I've only taken out third party fire and theft.
The truck involved stopped but I didn't get his details, as it's a local haulage firm I rang and e-mailed them to get the vehicles details, they sent me an e-mail telling me to get in touch with their insurers but didn't give me the vehicle or drivers details.
What's my best course of action?
