BikeLawyer secured a £105,000.00 settlement for a seriously injured Claimant

BikeLawyer recently acted for Mr G in a claim for compensation arising out of a serious motorcycle accident, having taken over the conduct of the claim from an alternative firm of solicitor's with whom he was unhappy.

Mr G had been riding in a bus lane (which was open at the material time to all traffic), through congested London traffic. Ahead of Mr G and to his right was a 4 x 4 vehicle which indicated left, and then proceeded to pull in to a left hand turn ahead of Mr G. Unfortunately the driver of the 4 x 4, who acknowledged that he was aware of Mr G's position in the road, failed to appreciate the speed with which Mr G was travelling and pulled across Mr G's path in to an adjacent roadway. Mr G was unable to stop and collided with the 4 x 4 causing it to topple on to its side. Mr G was prosecuted for driving without due care and attention, having been riding his motorcycle in excess of the posted speed limit of 30 miles per hour.

As a result of the collision Mr G suffered a fracture to the neck of the right femur which required internal fixation; a closed fracture of the right ulna at the mid-shaft which required immobilisation and a plaster cast; a musculo-ligamentous strain to the left wrist; a deep laceration to the inner left thigh requiring surgical closure; a chest injury; severe bruising and soft tissue injuries; and situational anxiety. Mr G was left with one leg shorter than the other which would require orthotics.

Whilst a significant deduction was accepted for contributory negligence due to the traffic offence, Mr G was successful in recovering compensation and recovered £105,000.00 by way of settlement. Mr G's barrister was very complimentary of BikeLawyer acknowledging that many solicitors would have refused to take on the case due to the risk of failing to make any recovery.
